Last week we left you with a question. Six points on our mark, and a promise to tell you why.

Here’s the story. It comes straight from the field, passed down by the cotton farmers who walk the rows. Pull up a chair.

A cotton boll opens into four sections. Sometimes five. The farmers who walk the rows know to look for the fives. They’re the rare ones, the standout fruit, the four-leaf clover in the field. They hold more seed and yield more lint than the four-section bolls beside them. A five is a good day.

Six is rarer.

Six is the boll farmers tell stories about. Stories passed down across generations of cotton families. Some farmers don’t believe they exist. Most never see one. But every now and then, walking a row at the end of a long season, somebody finds one. And when they do, they hold it up to the light, and they remember why they walk the rows.

You might think it’s a dream, a story, a myth. It isn’t. They’re real. Forty-four seeds in a single boll has been counted. Two found in the same week, in different fields on the same farm, has been recorded. They exist. The lore is true.

And here’s the part the breeders can’t explain. They’ve tried to grow more from the seeds inside. They’ve planted them, watched them, harvested them. The next crop comes back four-section, five-section, ordinary. Six-pointers don’t come from planning. They come from the field, the right field, on the right day, in the right season. They just appear. They make their own luck.

So why did we put six in our mark?

Because the six-point boll is the cotton farmer’s four-leaf clover. Rare. Lucky. And unlike most lucky things, it produces more. More fiber. More seed. More yield. The standout boll is the boll that delivers.

That’s what we’re chasing in every shirt we make. Not because we found a six-pointer in our field, but because every SoftShirt is built to be one. Better cotton. Better fiber. Better every step of the way. The standard is the standout. When you start with all natural, all the time, and you obsess over what the field gives you, the mark earns its keep.

There’s one more group of six-pointers in our story, the decorators who print our shirts and push our brand forward. We call them our SoftStars, and like the rare boll, they’re the standouts who deliver more than the rest. But that’s a story for another day, and we’ll have a lot more to say to them soon.

For now, look for the six points. You won’t find them everywhere, but they do exist and that is who SoftShirts seeks to be.
